When it comes to Bali, people mostly comes for two things. The beach and the food. Though the cafe and restaurant scene in Bali impress me so much, I still feel their local food is the best one. Mostly their common local food is Nasi babi guling (suckling pig rice) or Nasi Ayam (chicken rice). Compare to other sucking pigs stores, Pak Dobiel's warung is the most humble one, but to me who has been their loyal customers everytime I visited Bali, their version of suckling pig's rice is the best one. Generous filling, good chilli, delicious! The only thing I don't like about them is how they prepare the food using bare hands and not with spoon. But, seriously, Pak Dobiel's suckling pig is…

Not quite a secret beach anymore but still slightly hidden due to its far-flung location, Dreamland, Balangans next door neighbour, remains a mention on our list. Following the development of the Pecatu Graha and New Kuta expansions, much has changed over the recent years. Still a favourite among local and international visitors, Dreamland also remains a favourite surf break. With the concrete and other developments aside, the cliffs, sand and blue still hark back to its pristine days when its moniker came to being.

Flying south past Jimbaran Bay and Dreamland surfing beach, we view this ancient temple and then continue over deserted beaches, seaweed farms and limestone cliffs. Before turning north towards the Heliport we briefly fly over the Bukit and the famous Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. All of our pilots are Western pilots, either from Australia, New Zealand or Canada and are very experienced operators, strictly guided by Indonesian Aviation Laws ? In 1994 a young man named Brian Aldinger from New Jersey, was travelling around Java, Indonesia when he met a beautiful and interesting young woman called IsnuriSuryatmi (Nuri). They fell in love and were married shortly after. When holidaying in Bali they decided that Ubud, (the artists area in the hills of Bali) was the place for them and opened a small warung in 1995 where they could sell some drinks, make a few simple dishes and talk to the customers. So Naughty Nuri's was born!
