Taking place across the Independence Day weekend, the free community festival invites locals and visitors alike to experience Indonesia through regional cuisine, live performances and interactive cultural workshops, making it one of the most unique family events in Bali this weekend.

Celebrate Indonesia's Independence Day at Ulekan

Designed as a celebration of Indonesia's diverse cultural heritage, the festival transforms Ulekan into a colourful community hub decorated with traditional penjor and marigolds. Throughout the weekend, guests can explore local food stalls, enjoy live Indonesian music and watch traditional Balinese dance performances while discovering the flavours and stories behind the archipelago's regional cuisine.

Food, Workshops and Family-Friendly Activities

There's plenty to keep all ages entertained throughout the day. Festival highlights include tastings of Indonesian favourites such as sambal, jamu, honey, chocolate and Arak, alongside traditional Indonesian arts and crafts for children and Canang Sari offering-making workshops.

Visitors looking for a more hands-on experience can also book an Oedel Bali Batik Painting Workshop (10am–12pm) or an Arak Cocktail Tasting and Education Session hosted by Karudistilery (3pm–5pm).

While the festival runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm and is free to attend, Ulekan's restaurant will remain open from 9:00am to 10:00pm, serving its signature Indonesian menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's the perfect excuse to turn a visit into a full day out.
