The Best Areas to Stay in Bali with Kids (That Parents Will Love Too)
Planning a family trip to Bali?

The good news is the island makes it easy. The better news? You don’t have to sacrifice good coffee, beach time or great dining just because you’re travelling with kids.
Whether you’re chasing calm beaches, resort convenience or somewhere walkable with cafes on every corner, here are the Bali neighbourhoods that work best for families, and why.
Seminyak
For families who want convenience without giving up lifestyle.

Seminyak strikes a sweet balance between comfort and accessibility. Everything is close, from restaurants and cafes to shops and beach clubs, meaning less time in the car and more time actually enjoying your holiday. It’s particularly appealing for Australian families who want villa-style stays with pools, space and flexibility.

Accommodation ranges from private pool villas to full-service resorts, making it ideal for longer stays. You’ll also find plenty of casual dining options that work well with kids, plus nearby indoor play centres and spots like Shooters Bali that offer activities beyond just eating out.
Seminyak is best suited to families who like having everything within reach and appreciate a mix of relaxation and energy.
Uluwatu & Jimbaran
For scenic coastal stays and a slower pace.

If your idea of a family holiday leans more toward ocean views and open space, Uluwatu and Jimbaran are strong choices. Jimbaran’s beach is particularly family-friendly, with calm waters that are better suited to younger children than some of Bali’s surf beaches.

AYANA Estate and InterContinental Jimbaran are among the more established family-oriented options in the area, while beachfront dining and sunset walks round out the experience. This is Bali at a slower rhythm, scenic, relaxed and less crowded.
Perched high atop the cliffs, Uluwatu offers breathtaking views and is home to several resorts with dedicated kids' clubs, as well as a long list of kid-friendly cafes and restaurants. While the beaches are beautiful, don’t say we didn’t warn you about the steep stairs.
Nusa Dua
For seamless resort-style holidays.

Nusa Dua is often the easiest entry point for families visiting Bali for the first time. The beaches are wide, clean and typically calmer, the streets are well maintained, and the atmosphere feels secure and contained.
It’s home to a cluster of international resorts, many with excellent kids clubs, children’s pools and family-friendly facilities. Properties such as Paradisus by Melia Bali, Hyatt Regency Bali, Grand Hyatt Bali and The Westin Resort cater well to families looking for a smooth, low-stress stay.

The nearby Bali Collection shopping and dining area also makes it easy to step outside the resort without travelling far. If you want a holiday that runs smoothly from airport pickup to checkout, Nusa Dua delivers.
Berawa & Canggu
For lifestyle-focused families who like a little buzz.

Berawa and Canggu attract families who enjoy being close to cafes, surf beaches and a slightly more social atmosphere. It’s a good choice for longer stays or digital-nomad-style holidays where flexibility matters.

Villa-style accommodation is common here, and there are also resort options such as Holiday Inn Resort Bali Canggu and COMO Uma Canggu. The area has grown to include family-friendly playgrounds and activities like Mai Main and Splash Water Park, casual dining venues with space for kids, and plenty of open-air cafes where parents can relax while little ones stay entertained.
It’s not as polished as Nusa Dua or as contained as Jimbaran, but for families who enjoy their own space, it works well.
Sanur
For laid-back beach mornings and easy days.

Sanur has long been a favourite among families for good reason. The beach is shallow and calm, ideal for young swimmers, and the long beachfront promenade is perfect for cycling, walking or simply letting kids move freely.
The atmosphere feels relaxed and slightly removed from Bali’s busier hubs. Accommodation ranges from boutique resorts to larger properties like Maya Sanur Resort & Spa, Segara Village Hotel and Hyatt Regency Bali, many of which offer kids' clubs and family facilities.

Sanur suits families who want calm waters, simple logistics and a gentle holiday pace.
The beauty of Bali is that you can tailor the experience to your family’s rhythm. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers or teens, there’s a pocket of the island that fits.
And the best part? In Bali, family holidays don’t mean compromising; they just mean choosing the right neighbourhood.
