AMA Pyramids of Chi: Inside Ubud’s New Immersive Wellness Experience

Ubud has long been considered the spiritual heart of Bali.

Travellers arrive seeking yoga, jungle stillness and something deeper than a typical holiday reset. But as wellness evolves globally, so too does Ubud’s offering.

AMA Pyramids of Chi is the latest immersive wellness experience to open in Ubud, expanding one of Bali’s most established sound healing destinations into a new sensory frontier.

What Is AMA Pyramids of Chi?

Recognised as one of the world’s pioneering sound and frequency destinations, Pyramids of Chi has spent more than thirteen years exploring the intersection of ancient wisdom, sound, vibration technologies and human wellbeing.

Founded in 2013 by Peter and Lynn McIntosh, the space was conceived as a sanctuary for healing, connection and transformation. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in sound healing and consciousness-based practices, the founders created an environment where sacred architecture and the transformative power of sound could work together to support deep rest.

In 2017, Pyramids of Chi introduced Light Sound Vibration (LSV) in collaboration with sound artist Laurent Svara. First experienced inside the Pyramid of the Moon, LSV became one of the earliest immersive sound and vibration journeys of its kind. Over the years, it evolved through artistic collaboration and technological innovation, welcoming more than 100,000 guests.

As the concept continued to evolve, Pyramids of Chi expanded its exploration of immersive wellbeing beyond Bali through Future Resonance, a city-based experience that brought its sound, frequency and consciousness-based approach into urban environments.

AMA represents the next evolution in that journey, building on the foundations established by Pyramids of Chi, Light Sound Vibration and Future Resonance.

Often described as a “planetarium for your inner universe,” AMA expands the legacy of Pyramids of Chi into a fully immersive dome experience where art, sound and technology converge.

Inside Ubud’s New Multi-Sensory Dome Experience

Set within Ubud’s lush surrounds, AMA is housed inside an acoustically engineered dome designed to support deep relaxation and inward focus.

Developed in collaboration with sound and visual artists including Laurent Svara, Stuart Mueo, Burt Vera Cruz and Anson Phong, the experience explores the relationship between sound, light, vibration and human perception.

Guests recline beneath a 360-degree digital landscape as evolving cosmic visuals and abstract light compositions unfold across the curved interior of the dome. Spatial audio moves through the room, while a custom haptic floor allows vibration to be felt physically through the body rather than simply heard.

Subtle aromatherapy layers complete the environment, creating a multi-sensory wellness experience that feels immersive without being overwhelming.

The name AMA, meaning “mother,” reflects the intention behind the space. It is designed to feel holding, grounding and restorative. This is not a performance or a class. It is a carefully curated sensory environment where guests are invited to slow down, regulate the nervous system and reconnect inwardly.

How Sound, Art and Technology Come Together at AMA

Guided by an “Ancient × Future” philosophy, Pyramids of Chi has continually evolved from its original sound healing experiences to Light Sound Vibration, Future Resonance and now AMA, each exploring new ways to combine timeless wisdom with contemporary technology. AMA builds on the foundation by integrating contemporary digital art with frequency-based practices.

Each session is structured as a journey through sound, light and vibration. Rather than using technology for spectacle, it is employed intentionally to support presence and reflection. The result feels meditative and cinematic at the same time.

While it marks a departure from traditional sound healing sessions in Bali, the experience remains rooted in the same principles that have guided Pyramids of Chi since its inception: frequency, vibration and conscious rest.

Why Immersive Wellness Experiences Are Growing in Bali

Wellness tourism in Bali continues to evolve beyond yoga classes and spa rituals. Travellers are increasingly drawn to immersive environments that help them disconnect from constant digital stimulation and reconnect with their internal landscape.

AMA speaks directly to that shift. By combining digital art, spatial sound, vibration and scent into a single cohesive experience, it introduces a new category of immersive wellness in Ubud.

For those researching things to do in Ubud beyond temples and rice terraces, AMA offers something distinctly contemporary yet grounded in Bali’s longstanding spiritual culture. It positions Pyramids of Chi at the forefront of a growing movement that blends technology, artistry and consciousness-based wellbeing.
