Cultural Evening at Hotel Tugu Bali
Join us for a Cultural Evening today with Hotel Tugu Bali with a special dance performance designed to revive and preserve the almost forgotten stories from the past.
The dances will be:
Kebyar Duduk - Inspired by the development of the quick-paced gamelan gong kebyar, kebyar duduk is named for the seated and half-seated positions taken by the dancers. It does not convey a story, but is interpretative.
Jauk Manis - is a classical solo mask dance dated from the 18th century, in which the dancer wears the fearsome mask of the raksasa (giant) or demon. The dancer's aim is to express the character revealed in the appearance of the mask, a strong, forceful personality.
Jaran Teji – It tells the story of Dewi Sekartaji who disguised herself as a male rider, along with her consort, to search for her lover, Raden Panji Inu Kertha Pathi who diseappeared from his castle. Inspiration for this dance came from the Sanghyang Jaran, a unique sacred dance that involves fire-walking.
