Hi,My name is Herling and I would like to welcome you to my place. I came to Bali in 1972 with my father and he started the first restaurant in Legian, The Kayu Api. After meeting my wife and soul mate, I realised that she had a talent for food and loved to cook. She could make great meals out of empty fridges with hardly anything in them. One thing let to another we opened a small noodle chop in Legian which became very successful. Having had to sell the premises we had to give up our first culinary venture and reopened an Indonesian food warung in the Dyana Pura Street. After 2 years we decided to separate from our partner and start another venue ourselves and we founded Warung Asia.First we wanted to sale Indonesian Foods but saw that we had other warung has our competitors near by so my wife decided to cook Thai food. The idea behind Warung Asia was to bring Thai food to street level prices. In 2003 Thai food was hard to find and expensive and sparsely available. Warung Asia was an instant success; Tera was the chef in the kitchen and I, the waiter. After the first month we had our first waitresses and some more help in the kitchen.Our dream was to open another Warung Asia without losing control of quality, which we thought, was impossible. However, the property across the street became available and we decided to open another restaurant The Sang Ria Grill.We had another restaurant and we were able to control both the quality and service in both venues.After losing the Warung Asia premises contract we had to find a new location for Warung Asia. We decided to build a second floor on the Sang Ria Grill premises. This was the birth of Herling's place. Having had a dream to open a specialised dessert parlour, The Munchys gelato was constructed below Warung Asia Thai food. Now you can choose from 2 different menus and have the best gelato in Bali, all at reasonable prices. My wife/chef and myself manage all three venues. Besides having an amazing talent, Tera has perfected her skills with some of the world's best chefs. Chris ,,,,, chef,,,, chef ,,, just to name a few. Our policy is satisfaction quarantine. We only serve you what we would eat ourselves, thus the best, in quality of ingredient and cleanness.
