Milo Migliavacca

As a young professional Italian fashion designer from Milan, Italy, Milo Migliavacca arrived to Bali in 1973 Which marked for him the opening of a creative door to a world of inspiration uniting his skills and appreciation of European design whit the enchantment of the unknown, refined potential skills of the Balinese on the industry of producing fashion in Indonesia, which had never existed previously. Milo?s aim was to make women look as beautiful as Bali. He wove his impressions inspired by Balinese handicrafts into developing his signature rayon-jersey, silk-jersey, appalique embroidery and knit. He then extended his collections to include silk chiffon, silk organza and ultimately redefine the traditional technique of batik. His creative genius earned him the title of ?The Original Prince of Batik Couture?. These designs took on natural state, reflecting the island?s subdued and inherent simple serenity with motifs exemplifying ?geometry of batik? using domestic and foreign materials in their natural state. Milo integrated them into a refined Italian aesthetic quality of timeless elegance and balance, in tune with the modern fashion world. Often his patterns and motifs were interpretations of his great love of nature inspired by his award-winning collection of cultivated orchids. Thus, Milo had jump-started a new era for Bali with his exhilarating designs redefining women with a liberating freedom of sexy, free- flowing lines creating a silhouette showing the natural curves of the body to be displayed worldwide.
