Half Day Wine & Dine Tour by The Bali Bible
Who ever heard of grapes flourishing in tropical climate, and even more so resulting in decent drops of wine?
It may come as a surprise to everyone that Bali has a wine vineyard. And even more surprising that after eight years of production, Sababay wines has managed to produce an award-winning product. We were so impressed with the amazing story of how this project started and the journey it has taken, we just had to make it into a tour!
It all began with an altruistic desire to help the struggling grape farmers of northern Bali and developed into a vision to produce world-class wines with locally grown grapes. This is the challenge French wine maker, Nicolas Delacressioniere (no we can’t pronounce it either), has taken on and the results are inspiring.
Discover the world of Bali’s wine with this one of a kind tour!
Itinerary (8 hours - start at 12 PM)
This half day tour begins with a 5 star lunch by Keramas beach at the luxurious Rumah Luwih. The colonial architecture and interior design make this a special experience to enjoy your tailored menu of Western, Indonesian, or Malay ‘peranakan’ food. This includes world famous dishes like Laksa, Woku chicken and Ayam Betutu. What better way to start a tour of Indonesian wines than with traditional food served in an exquisite ambience.
From there our driver will take you to Sababay Winery for your guided tour of the wine production facilities, starting from the Video room, Winery cellar, on to the Packaging room. You’ll learn about the history of Balinese grapes and Sababay’s vision of fair trade and local farmers empowerment.
Then, it’s upstairs to the open air balcony for a wine tasting session. Guess what? You’ll also be invited to try the latest batch of wine straight from the vat! Quite the experience to try wine before it’s been filtered and bottled.
At the end, you’ll receive a complimentary bottle of wine and a 10% discount on any merchandises you wish to buy at the store.
This tour is only available from Monday to Friday, except Balinese & public holiday
Wine tasting is a fixed time from 3 - 4.30 PM (1,5 hours duration)
