Affectionately known as a ‘hipster paradise’, Canggu is the place to be if you’re looking to spend some quality time with your BFF in a place that’s not overrun by tourists.

The surfing culture in the ‘Gu is real and if you’re not currently a surfer, we bet you’ll leave as one. There are three main surf breaks: Berawa’s a playground for the pros, Echo’s for the intermediate-and-up, and Batu Bolong for beginners. Canggu also has loads of surf camps — sign up for some lessons with your bestie and conquer the waves together!

If you’re not into the whole surf thing or you’re wanting something a little less hectic, book yourself in for a pamper spa day with your BFF. Canggu has tons of stylish spas with beautiful interiors and luxe treatments - all without a hefty price tag. We love Spring Spa which offers one of the best treatments for sun-kissed skins and salty locks: try a raw facial that’s good enough to eat or a massage for those post-surf aches.

Lounge on parasol-shaded daybeds at our favourite Finns Beach Club which faces Berawa’s main surf break and sun-bake till you’re both bronze goddesses. Cool off with a dip in the gorgeous infinity pool and order some cocktails from the swim-up bar. Our pro tip: Head upstairs to the Sunset Lounge for the best views over the breaks.

Another one of our favourites is grabbing a front row seat (or picnic mat under the umbrellas) to watch Bali’s unbelievable sunsets at The Lawn and enjoy uninterrupted views of the whole west coast from Uluwatu to Tanah Lot with one of their signature frosés in hand.
If you’re up for a night out, Canggu’s nightlife is amongst our favourite in Bali.. Join the ‘Gu crowd for competitive beer pong and tequila at the legendary Old Man’s on Wednesdays, or pop by on Fridays for live music to kick start the weekend.
Of course, you can’t miss out on the best part of Canggu — the super gorgeous villas and resorts! We love Sotis Villa Canggu - it’s not too far from all the action or if you want to be closer to the coast, check out Aston Canggu Beach Resort and COMO Uma Canggu.
