If you want to immerse yourself in a completely new culture, look no further than a trip to Indonesia. Whether you can’t wait to see one of the country’s many active volcanoes or stare into the eyes of a cunning Komodo Dragon, Indonesia will be unlike any other place you have experienced. Before your flight takes off, there are a few details you will want to address. Read on for a list of activities to complete prior to your exotic vacation.

Complete Pending Tasks

While you might feel like you never actually complete your to-do list, do your best to knock out any big tasks before you leave. For example, do you still need to pay the fee for your kid’s school or sports enrollment? Write the check before you leave. You do not want to come home to a dozen emails asking when you are going to pay, or worse, stating your application has been denied.

Have you been shopping around for different insurance quotes, such as home insurance or car insurance? This is something you should take care of before you leave, just in case anything happens while you are gone. Basically, any open tasks that could have negative repercussions if left unattended, get them done before your trip.

Find a House Sitter

Even if you do not have money and jewels stashed away in your floorboards, you will sleep easier knowing someone is keeping an eye on your property. Find a house sitter to monitor your home while you are gone. If it is someone you know well, they can stay overnight at your house until you return. Plus, if you have a pet, they can keep an eye on Fido at the same time. Otherwise, find someone who can drop by every day or every other day to make sure nothing suspicious is occurring.

Renew Your Passport

Traveling to Indonesia from America will require you to have an active passport. Do not wait until the week before you take off to check on it. The last thing you want is to realize your passport has expired and you have no way to get it renewed before your trip.

Save yourself the headache and check your passport at least three months before your trip. If you require a new one, it can take around six weeks to renew. By checking it early, you give yourself plenty of time to get the passport renewed, even if it is delayed in processing.

Pack Early

While you may be tempted to leave your packing until the night before your flight, doing this runs the risk of not having everything you need and not enough time to get it. Start packing your bag about a week before the flight. That way, if you need to replace or clean anything, you have enough time to get it done. After all, you do not want to go on vacation with nothing but dirty clothes packed in your bag!

Create a Budget

Very few people look forward to creating a budget but if you take a trip without one, there is a good chance you will overspend. Nobody wants to return home from an amazing trip with a mountain of new debt. Before you go, create a budget; allocate a specific amount of money for each item, such as entertainment, food and transportation.

Call the Bank

Reach out to your bank and tell them the dates you will be in Indonesia. Nothing ruins a trip like a freeze being put on your credit card because the bank suspects fraud. Letting them know you will be gone will prevent any issues with your cards getting declined.

No matter where you plan to go on this beautiful island, you will enjoy your trip far more if you prepare in advance. Take time to complete the above tasks before your vacation. This will cut down on any issues and leave you with more time to explore the island.
