Ancient Temples, Ubud and Bird Park

Drive straight to Bali Bird Park,a lush 2-hectare of Balinese landscape and free-range birds of cassowaries, crested-cranes, storks and pelicans; a home to 1,000 birds of 250 different species.

Next, we stop at Batuan village for Pura Desa Batuan, one of the oldest temples in Bali.

Walk around Central Ubud: Ubud Palace and Ubud market.

Visit Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave, built in the 9th century, it is a complex of cave with elaborately carved elephant-like face over man-made entrance, Ganesh statue, a couple of temples, ancient bathing pools and some collapsed Buddhist relics all within a stunning jungle setting.

Close the day with a stop at Pura Penataran Sasih which house a colossal bronze kettledrum of 160 cm diameter believed to be the largest bronze-age antiquity in the world.

The drum was both musical instruments and cult objects as well as articles of trade. The legend tells that the it was once a wheel of the chariot that carried the moon across the night sky. One day it fell from the heavens into a tree at Pejeng village, hence the name Moon of Pejeng.
